BeWell $100 Reward!

BeWell Albemarle is offering a $100 incentive (provided as a pay bonus in October 2018) to every County benefits-eligible employee who completes a health screening and a self-assessment.

There are two steps required to earn your incentive:

 1)  Health Screening:  If you participated in one of our BeWell and Wise biometric screening events during May or June 2018 please allow two weeks for the results to appear on your www.medexperthealth.com account.
-- OR --
You can also complete the Health Screening by visiting your healthcare provider.  It can be a new appointment that you complete by July 31, 2018 - or if you have had a wellness visit any time since April 1, 2017 you can go through your MedExpert account at www.medexperthealth.com to download a form and get credit for your visit.

2)  Health Assessment:  Complete a self-rated Health Assessment through MedExpert.  There are both online and phone options for your convenience.  Log in to your MedExpert account at www.medexperthealth.com or call 1-800-999-1999.

Complete both steps, and $100 will be added to your October paycheck!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why would BeWell Albemarle pay me to do this stuff?
Maximizing employee engagement in wellness programs is the right thing to do for the health of County employees and enables us to get the most impact out of our wellness dollars.  There are many excellent reasons for Albemarle County to provide these programs and many compelling reasons for employees to take advantage of them.

Who decides when I have completed the steps?
Our new wellness partner MedExpert will manage the verification process of these two tasks in order for employees to earn the incentive.  When County employees complete both steps to earn the incentive MedExpert will notify BeWell and we will pass the information on to payroll.

How will I know when I have completed the steps?
Just log in to your account at www.medexperthealth.com - you will see a progress bar and checkmarks like the screenshots below.  If the bar is 100% and/or Step 1 and Step 2 both have green checkmarks, then you are have completed the steps!

How long will it take for my results to appear on my MedExpert portal?
If you participate in a BeWell and Wise screening, results will be posted in about 2 weeks.  If you participate by visiting your healthcare provider, it depends on how quickly your provider sends in the form.  We suggest checking your MedExpert portal to be sure your results are received.

Is this money taxable?
Yes.  The $100 will be paid through payroll and appear on your earnings statement as taxable income.

When do I get the money?
Rewards will be processed in the October 2018 paychecks.  If an employee terminates employment prior to October 1, 2018, they will not be eligible for the BeWell reward.

What is a biometric health screening?
A biometric health screening is a convenient way to assess your risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.  The process takes about 15 minutes from the point of check-in to completion.  A small blood sample is collected from a finger stick to measure total cholesterol, HDL "good" cholesterol, LDL "bad" cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose. Blood pressure, waist circumference, height, weight, and BMI (body mass index) are also measured during the screening process.

What is a health assessment?
A health assessment is a self-rated questionnaire.  Participants answer a series of questions about a range of health behaviors and as well as perceived physical, mental, and emotional health status.  Self-rated health questionnaires have been found to be a reliable measurement of general health.
